Valentine Distilling Co. Raises $12,000 For Michigan Beverage Hospitality Workers

Ferndale, MI Valentine Distilling Co. and its passionate Mayor Pingree Cask Club whiskey fanbase have raised more than $12,000 to support hospitality workers in need during the COVID-19 quarantine crisis. The money was raised through the release of an elite, 12-year old single barrel of bourbon. The special cask yielded just 62 bottles at 137.6 proof, of which 50 were sold at a price of $350 per bottle. All of the markup will go to support Michigan workers in the alcohol beverage hospitality industry.

“We have a hospitality staff of our own, so this issue is near and dear to our hearts,” said Rifino Valentine, Founder of Valentine Distilling Co. “It’s also important to support the restaurant and bar staff of the many establishments that have always supported Valentine Distilling Co.”

Mayor Pingree Cask Club members expressed interest in purchasing a bottle through their exclusive club forum. A randomized drawing then decided who would get to purchase one of the 50 bottles. The lottery filled up in a matter of minutes. The purchasing Cask Club members also received a complimentary 50ml sample vial from the cask and a bottle of Valentine’s ‘Royal Clean’ Hand Sanitizer.

“This is a special one,” says Justin Aden, the Distiller & Blender of Valentine Distilling Co. “This is an opportunity to help out, by leveraging both our rare and exceptional whiskey inventory and our fanatical Mayor Pingree supporters to assist our colleagues in the beverage hospitality industry. It is essentially a donation to your favorite bartenders that comes with one of the finest single cask bottles we’ve ever released.”

As an example of industry partnership, Valentine Distilling Co. is donating some bottles of the Mayor Pingree ‘Blue Label’ Single Barrel to The Sugar House in Detroit to support its own internal fundraiser.

“We are very excited to work with Rifino and Justin at Valentine on this cause,” says Dave Kwiatkowski of Detroit Optimist Society. “I’ve selected more than 50 single barrels of whiskey in my career, and this is what we in the business refer to as a ‘unicorn;’ a truly remarkable cask. It’s special to see it being released for a wonderful purpose.”

Valentine Distilling Co. is now directly manufacturing and bottling hand sanitizer in the same sustainable way in which they manufacture their spirits. The distillery has donated substantial amounts of The ‘Royal Clean’ Hand Sanitizer to support workers on the front lines.

Limited-edition Royal Clean Hand Sanitizer t-shirts are also available for purchase in the Valentine online shop. One hundred percent of proceeds go toward helping the Valentine Distilling Co. Cocktail Lounge staff get through the crisis.

“We hope our initiative sets a trend to encourage others to support causes they are passionate about during this crisis and beyond,” said Valentine.
